About Jim Nelms
Jim Nelms is a global enterprise transformation, cybersecurity, technology, and risk executive with more than three decades of leadership across Fortune 500 companies, global healthcare, international finance, manufacturing, and other highly regulated environments.
He has repeatedly been asked to build capabilities that did not previously exist—establishing enterprise security organizations, modernizing infrastructure, advising boards and executive teams, preparing companies for major business transitions, and translating complex technical risk into clear business decisions.
His approach is practical, evidence-based, and grounded in servant leadership: the organization and the people within it should be stronger because of the work completed together.

Experience & impact
Leadership philosophy
Sustainable security and technology programs are not built through control alone. They are built through trust, clarity, accountability, and a shared understanding of the mission.
Nelms Advisory favors evidence over fear, practical action over unnecessary complexity, and capability-building over dependence. The goal is not simply to advise—it is to help leaders make better decisions and enable their organizations to carry the work forward with confidence.
Technology and cybersecurity exist to protect enterprise value and enable strategic objectives.
Decisions should be grounded in probability, impact, available evidence, and business context.
The strongest engagement leaves the client able to sustain and improve the work independently.
